STEM Fair, Week 4 (December 13): Experiment- Decide on how to conduct a fair experiment by considering the variables you will control. List your materials, including quantities. Write a step-by-step procedure so others could replicate your work. This is the last week we will be doing any in class work on their projects. Students will bring home what they have done in class, and need to finish at home. This includes the experiment, the display board, photos, data/charts, and finishing their notebooks (or slides.)
Teacher Approval Forms must be turned in by this week!
STEM Fair, Week 5 (December 20): Conduct your experiment and record data. This is the fun part. Set up your experiment, gather data, and make observations. Take your time and collect accurate data. Be sure to take photos of your work and record all your data in a journal. It is ok to adjust your procedures as necessary. Be sure to run your experiment multiple times.
STEM Fair, Week 6 (December 27): Charts and Graphs- Use the information you recorded during your experiment to make charts and graphs of your data. This is a way to organize your data so that others will be able to see what you learned.
STEM Fair, Week 7 (January 3): Results and Conclusion- Share what you learned from your experiment in your conclusion. Your conclusion will be one to three paragraphs long.
STEM Fair, Week 8 (January 10): Display Board and Notebook- Your display board and notebook should include all the sections (see above) of your project in a clear display. (Display Boards may be purchased in the office or at places like the Dollar Store.) The goal of the display board and notebook is to teach others about your experiment and what you learned through your investigation. Grades 5 and 6, may not bring a model and therefore, all information must be on their poster and in their notebook. Students may be interviewed by two judges on the day of the STEM Fair. Please make sure students are ready to answer questions about their projects.
